Wandercraft
Integrator / OEM
Self-balancing robotic mobility: the CE-marked Atalante X hands-free walking exoskeleton, the Eve personal exoskeleton and the Calvin-40 humanoid.
Wandercraft (Paris; founded 2012) builds self-balancing robotic mobility systems. Atalante X is a hands-free walking exoskeleton - no crutches - that stabilises itself with a proprietary control and AI stack refined on billions of simulated steps and over a million real steps a month; it holds a CE mark and is used in more than 100 rehabilitation centres across four continents for stroke, spinal-cord-injury and neurodegenerative gait retraining. Eve, a personal exoskeleton for everyday use outside the clinic, is targeted for market from 2026. Calvin-40, a humanoid built on the same balance stack, is being developed for factory work with Renault Group as industrial partner (wandercraft.eu; Series D release, 2025-06-11).

Evidence boundary
Original analysis and independent corroboration remain under development. Commercial scale and durable technical advantage remain under review.
What makes it defensible
A decade of self-balancing bipedal control validated clinically - Atalante X is the first CE-marked hands-free walking exoskeleton, and the same stabilisation stack now opens humanoid factory work.
Position in the stack: Integrator building the whole system - actuation, balance controller, clinical software - and selling into rehabilitation centres and, next, industrial sites through Renault. Value sits in the certified control stack and clinical evidence, a multi-year regulatory barrier rather than a parts advantage.

Founding team
Nicolas Simon — Chairman and Co-founder — Started work on self-stabilising bipedal walking as chairman of the École Polytechnique robotics club in 2010, inspired by a brother losing the ability to walk; founded Wandercraft in 2012.
Matthieu Masselin — CEO and Co-founder — Joined the founding team in 2012 shortly after the company was formed; leads Wandercraft's clinical and industrial expansion from New York.
Alexandre Boulanger — Co-founder — Roboticist and classmate of Nicolas Simon at École Polytechnique; co-founded Wandercraft in 2012.
Jean-Louis Constanza — Co-founder, Chief Business and Clinical Officer — Serial entrepreneur; joined the operating team after his son, who has Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease, asked him to build a walking robot.
