Full-stack Physical AI: general-purpose robots plus Large Behavior Model policies and an expert operations team, deployed in live manufacturing and logistics.
Walden Robotics (Cambridge, MA; launched from stealth July 2026) builds full-stack general-purpose robots for manufacturing and logistics - hardware, the Large Behavior Model policy stack, and the deployment and operations layer. Robots handle machine tending, tool setting, parts kitting and assembly at existing production cells, learning tasks by demonstration and improving through real production practice instead of fixed programming. Walden launched out of Toyota Research Institute in January 2026, had robots doing production work at a Toyota plant in North America within two months, and sells robots plus expert operations teams rather than software alone. It reports strategic partners across automotive, aerospace, semiconductors, electronics, logistics and life sciences (waldenrobotics.com, 2026-07-15).

Evidence boundary
Original analysis and independent corroboration remain under development. Commercial scale and durable technical advantage remain under review.
What makes it defensible
Walden owns the Large Behavior Model lineage (Diffusion Policy, UMI, OpenVLA, LBM 1.0) and the operating crew that installs and supervises robots in live factories - frontier robot-learning IP plus production deployment discipline in one company.
Position in the stack: Vertical integrator: it builds the robot, the foundation-model policy and the on-site operations team, and sells worked hours into factories. Toyota's backing and plant access supply a reference environment and demand that model-only labs and hardware-only OEMs cannot rent.
