Bottleneck owner
Energy software (Aria + Dispatch Intelligence) that dispatches behind-the-meter batteries so AI data centers clear interconnection queues years sooner.
Verse (San Francisco) sells energy-orchestration software that gets AI data centers connected to power years earlier. Its platform, Aria, unifies a large power user's sites, utility bills, contracts and power purchase agreements into one portfolio view, and its Dispatch Intelligence product automatically dispatches behind-the-meter batteries and flexible assets in real time, so the grid sees a flexible load while the facility keeps running at full capacity. Paired with Calibrant Energy, which finances, builds and owns the on-site battery systems, Verse turns a data-center site into a grid-responsive asset that can move up the interconnection queue. Customers are Fortune 500 energy consumers and data-center developers (verse.inc; Bessemer Series B announcement, 2026-06).

Original analysis and independent corroboration remain under development. Commercial scale and durable technical advantage remain under review.
What makes it defensible
Verse pairs market-bidding software written by the team behind Tesla Autobidder and Fluence Mosaic with a partner that finances and owns the batteries - the combination that converts flexibility into a faster interconnection instead of just a dashboard.
Position in the stack: Software layer between the grid and the data-center load: it dispatches customer- or partner-owned storage to reshape a site's grid draw and monetises the flexibility in energy and ancillary markets. Value accrues to whoever holds the dispatch brain and the market registrations, not to the battery owner alone.
