Uhnder
Component
Fully software-defined 4D digital imaging radar-on-chip (Digital Code Modulation) for automotive ADAS, industrial automation and defense perception.
Uhnder (Austin, TX, founded 2015) builds fully software-defined 4D digital imaging radar. Its radar-on-chip uses Digital Code Modulation instead of analog modulation, putting 12 transmit and 16 receive antennas on one CMOS die to form 192 virtual channels, with on-chip DSP and CPUs delivering up to roughly 20 Tera-Ops of baseband processing. The S80 radar-on-chip is AEC-Q104 qualified and ISO 26262 ASIL-B certified and ships in production as Magna's ICON radar, first fitted to the Fisker Ocean. Uhnder sells chips and sensor modules to automotive Tier 1s and OEMs plus industrial, logistics-automation and defense customers that need perception which holds up in bad weather (uhnder.com; GlobeNewswire Series D release, 2024-02-21).

What makes it defensible
Uhnder is one of the only shipping digital-code-modulation radar chips - replacing analog radar's interference-limited noise floor with a software-defined CMOS SoC that a Tier 1 can take through ISO 26262 and AEC-Q104 qualification.
Position in the stack: Sells the sensing SoC and modules to automotive Tier 1s such as Magna and to industrial/defense integrators, who own vehicle and system integration. The defensible position is the mixed-signal design plus automotive qualification and the software-defined processing stack, not the radar module itself.
