Hangzhou embodied-AI company pairing Spirit VLA models with the Moz1 force-controlled humanoid; open-sources Spirit v1.5.
Spirit AI (千寻智能) builds a full stack of embodied AI: the Spirit series of vision-language-action foundation models plus its own force-controlled humanoid hardware. Moz1 is a 26-degree-of-freedom, fully force-controlled humanoid with integrated torque-controlled joints, a 1:1 payload-to-weight ratio and whole-body control for low-latency teleoperation. The Spirit VLA models take natural-language instructions and execute long-horizon manipulation — folding clothes, tidying a desk, clearing a table — and Spirit v1.5 was open-sourced in 2026. Training data comes from the company's own UMI-style capture devices rather than simulation alone. The stated ambition is a general robot 'brain' that transfers across embodiments, with a ten-year goal of a robot in 10% of households.

Evidence boundary
Original analysis and independent corroboration remain under development. Commercial scale and durable technical advantage remain under review.
What makes it defensible
Full-stack model-plus-body: VLA trained on self-collected real-world data and deployed on its own force-controlled joints, so model and hardware co-tune instead of being integrated after the fact.
Position in the stack: Integrator-OEM that owns both the embodied model and the humanoid body — competing on the stack rather than on a single component, with manufacturing and logistics as the first paid deployments.
