Prophesee
Component
Event-based (neuromorphic) vision sensors, cameras and perception systems that report per-pixel change instead of full frames.
Prophesee (formerly Chronocam, founded 2014 in Paris) builds event-based — neuromorphic — vision: sensors that report per-pixel brightness change as it happens instead of capturing complete frames, plus the software and AI that turn those sparse events into decisions. The portfolio spans patented event sensors, camera modules, the Hearth software stack and complete perception systems such as Mantara, sold into defense and aerospace, industrial inspection, robotics and autonomous vehicles, infrastructure and scientific imaging, with Sony and Qualcomm listed as technology partners. The company cites 100+ patents and 300+ academic publications behind the stack and reports nearly EUR 150M raised from corporate and institutional investors including Bosch Ventures, Renault Group, Prosperity7, Supernova and the European Investment Bank. It employs roughly 65 people across Paris, Grenoble and Shanghai.

Evidence boundary
Original analysis and independent corroboration remain under development. Commercial scale and durable technical advantage remain under review.
What makes it defensible
Owns the event-based pixel and perception stack — 100+ patents plus a decade of algorithms and a Sony manufacturing relationship — so any machine that needs change-detection vision buys or licenses from Prophesee rather than copying a frame-based CMOS BOM.
Position in the stack: Sensor and perception-system layer (L7). Prophesee sits upstream of the machine builder: it supplies sensors, cameras and full perception systems into defense, industrial and robotics OEMs. The position is hard to copy because the moat is the event-pixel architecture and the algorithm/AI layer trained on event streams, not assembly — a frame-based sensor vendor cannot reproduce it by swapping parts.
Who buys it
Named customers: Sony (manufacturing partner), Qualcomm (design partnership)
