Phaidra
Bottleneck owner
DeepMind-alum AI agents that run cooling and power for AI data centres, sold as a supervisory layer over existing BMS/SCADA.
Phaidra sells AI agents that operate AI factories — the data-centre infrastructure built for GPU workloads. Its agents sit as a supervisory layer above the existing BMS/SCADA, learn a specific site's thermal and power behaviour from its own telemetry, then run it: the Liquid Cooling Agent holds thermal stability under dynamic GPU load, the Chiller Staging Agent pre-stages chillers to absorb facility power spikes without raising PUE, and the Flex Agent shifts IT and cooling demand in response to grid conditions. Reported production results are roughly 80% less thermal overshoot, 30% lower cooling cost and 25% better energy efficiency. Aligned Data Centers deploys the platform as Phaidra Prism on NVIDIA's DSX AI Factory design; earlier sites spanned pharma plants, refineries and paper mills.

Evidence boundary
Original analysis and independent corroboration remain under development. Commercial scale and durable technical advantage remain under review.
What makes it defensible
Reinforcement-learning plant control proven on Google's own data centres (a 40% cooling-energy cut) and then hardened site-by-site — the accumulating per-site control models are what a generic BMS vendor cannot ship.
Position in the stack: Bottleneck owner (pa-2) at the operations layer: it owns neither chips, cooling hardware nor the building, but it owns the decision loop that sets PUE and power flexibility, where AI-factory economics are decided.

Named customers: Aligned Data Centers
Founding team
Jim Gao — Co-founder & CEO — Led DeepMind Energy and spent over a decade designing and optimising Google's data-centre infrastructure, including the DeepMind cooling project that cut energy use 40%.
Vedavyas Panneershelvam — Co-founder — DeepMind research engineer and a primary engineer on AlphaGo; worked with Gao on data-centre energy optimisation.
Katherine (Katie) Hoffman — Co-founder — Operations and innovation leader at Trane with earlier defense experience at Raytheon.
