Fabless RF chip company commercialising ultra-low-loss beamforming chipsets for phased-array antennas.

Oso Semiconductor is a fabless chip company developing power-efficient beamforming chipsets for electronically steered (phased-array) antennas. Its ultra-low-loss beamforming IP removes up to 4x of the power-hungry circuits in a phased-array front end, which the company says yields up to 4x lower power, 2x smaller chips, 10x better linearity and 10x better EMI resilience versus conventional architectures. Target markets are SATCOM user terminals - where RF power consumption and chip cost are the dominant system cost drivers - defence communications and drones (low size, weight and power), with 5G/6G and automotive radar as crossover markets. It raised a $5.2M seed in February 2025 to build pre-production beamforming chipsets and evaluation systems for tier-one customers. Technical performance figures are company-reported.

Evidence boundary

Original analysis and independent corroboration remain under development. Commercial scale and durable technical advantage remain under review.

An architecture that deletes front-end circuits rather than shrinking them - it attacks the two cost drivers (RF power and chip count) that keep phased arrays out of consumer SATCOM.

RF front-end silicon supplier to antenna/aperture OEMs and defence programmes; the moat is circuit and algorithm IP rooted in Berkeley phased-array research, which works on mainstream nodes so it is not gated by leading-edge fab access.
