NODE Robotics
Bottleneck owner
Stuttgart Fraunhofer spin-out whose NODE.OS makes mixed fleets of AMRs and AGVs coordinate on one map.
NODE Robotics sells the software layer that makes mobile robots work together. NODE.OS handles localisation, hybrid navigation (map-based and mapless), obstacle avoidance, traffic management and task allocation, and it is hardware-agnostic — turning robots from different manufacturers into one coordinated fleet instead of one vendor's island. Two adjacent products extend reach: NODE Robot Solutions, its own low-cost pallet-transport AMRs for buyers who want a complete vehicle, and NODE.tracking, which puts manual forklifts and tugger trains on the same live map as the autonomous robots. NODE.OS is reported in daily productive use on more than 2,000 mobile robots worldwide. The buyer is the intralogistics operator or automation OEM that already owns robots and needs them to behave as a fleet.

Evidence boundary
Original analysis and independent corroboration remain under development. Commercial scale and durable technical advantage remain under review.
What makes it defensible
Vendor-agnostic fleet coordination: the value is integrating other people's robots, which a single OEM's software will never do — and it gets harder to displace as the mixed fleet grows.
Position in the stack: Bottleneck owner at the fleet-orchestration layer (pa-10): it sits above the robot OEMs and below the WMS/MES, defended by breadth of supported hardware and field-proven traffic management rather than by any single robot.
