Aeroperm nanocrystalline alloy and stator cores that cut electric motor loss - longer range, less mass.

Kite Magnetics makes Aeroperm, a nanocrystalline soft magnetic alloy developed at Monash University, and turns it into ultra-low-loss stator cores for electric motors and generators. Lower core loss means a motor of the same mass travels further or lifts more, which is why the company targets automotive powertrains and UAV or eVTOL propulsion first. It supplies Aeroperm cores directly to non-automotive customers, and industrialises the process so automotive OEMs and tier-1 suppliers can make Aeroperm stators in-house. The company has moved from material development to a 5 tonne-per-year pilot stator-core line in Victoria, Australia, and reports its first automotive tier-1 order in 2026 alongside customers taking samples and paid prototypes.

Evidence boundary

Original analysis and independent corroboration remain under development. Commercial scale and durable technical advantage remain under review.

A protected nanocrystalline alloy plus the manufacturing route to wind it into stator cores - materials IP a motor OEM cannot design around quickly.

Sits in the magnetics bill of materials of every high-performance electric motor, upstream of the OEM. Hard to copy because it needs alloy composition, ribbon casting and core-building process know-how together.
