Hestus
Physical AI
AI autocomplete for CAD that removes repetitive sketching work for mechanical engineers.
Hestus builds an AI copilot for computer-aided design that predicts and completes repetitive sketching work, positioning itself as autocomplete rather than a text-prompt generator. The tool reads the sketch as it is drawn and offers the constraints and construction geometry an engineer would have added - centre lines, mirrors, symmetry constraints - placed with a single keypress instead of dozens of clicks. Hestus claims roughly 2.5x faster sketching and 4x fewer clicks, and says about 5,000 engineers use it. The product is available as a free download for Autodesk Fusion on Mac and Windows. Hestus was founded in 2024 and raised a $1.5M seed led by Liquid2 and Rock Yard Ventures, with Y Combinator, Kyle Vogt and Eric Migicovsky among the investors.

Evidence boundary
Original analysis and independent corroboration remain under development. Commercial scale and durable technical advantage remain under review.
What makes it defensible
Prediction of the engineer's next sketch operation from the live model - an interaction model that beats text-prompt CAD tools because it works inside the existing mouse-and-keyboard workflow.
Position in the stack: Design-automation software layer upstream of manufacturing and hardware engineering. Defensibility comes from a model trained on CAD interaction behaviour rather than on generic code or language.
