Shanghai event-camera sensor designer (CeleX) — asynchronous pixel-level vision chips for ADAS, robotics and industrial use.

CelePixel designs event-based (dynamic vision) image sensors — bio-inspired chips that output per-pixel brightness changes asynchronously instead of full frames, giving microsecond latency, high dynamic range and low data volume. Its CeleX family includes CeleX-V, a 1280×800 event sensor with on-chip processing that outputs event streams, full-frame images and optical-flow vectors in parallel, aimed at ADAS, autonomous driving, robotics, industrial inspection and AR/VR. The company was spun out of Hillhouse Technology Singapore in 2017 and based in Shanghai, raising a seed round backed by Baidu Ventures. Status note: patent filings originally assigned to CelePixel were later reassigned to OmniVision Sensor Solution (Shanghai), and founder Shoushun Chen left in October 2023 — current independence should be re-checked before any conviction.

Evidence boundary

Original analysis and independent corroboration remain under development. Commercial scale and durable technical advantage remain under review.

On-chip pixel-parallel processing that emits events, full frames and optical flow from one sensor — mixed-signal design that most image-sensor vendors have not shipped.

Sensor layer: it replaces or augments frame cameras in high-speed and high-dynamic-range perception (drones, ADAS, industrial inspection), sitting upstream of every perception stack that needs low latency.

Industrial Automation — OEMs

Shoushun Chen — Founder — Associate professor at Nanyang Technological University Singapore (2009–2023); event-based and neuromorphic vision sensor researcher; founded CelePixel in July 2017 and left in October 2023.
