Bota Systems
Component
Swiss six-axis force-torque, joint-torque and tactile sensors plus a haptics and teleoperation data platform for robot learning.
Bota Systems designs and manufactures six-axis force-torque sensors, joint torque sensors and tactile sensors for robots, with electronics, IMU, temperature sensing and compensation integrated into the sensor body so there is no external box. The line runs from SensONE cobot sensors — including an 80 Nm T80 for heavy palletising and welding — to ultra-slim joint torque sensors for humanoid, medical and collaborative actuators, plus plug-and-play kits for Kinova, Universal Robots, Franka, Stäubli and Meca500 arms. Bota also sells a sensing platform for physical AI: haptic teleoperation and kinesthetic teaching that capture synchronised motion, force, tactile and vision data for imitation learning.

Evidence boundary
Original analysis and independent corroboration remain under development. Commercial scale and durable technical advantage remain under review.
What makes it defensible
All-in-one sensor integration — electronics, IMU and compensation inside the sensor body — designed and manufactured in Switzerland, letting one design platform serve 300+ labs, OEMs and industrial partners.
Position in the stack: Sensing component inside the wrist or joint: force feedback is the modality that separates contact-rich manipulation from vision-only robots, so Bota sits upstream of every force-controlled task.
Who buys it
Founding team
Klajd Lika — Co-founder & CEO — Mechanical engineering at NTUA, Athens; three years of research on legged robots and force-torque sensors; moved to ETH Zurich, where he developed force-torque sensors for the ANYmal robot.
Ilias Patsiaouras — Co-founder & CTO — NTUA alumnus; co-founded Bota Systems with Lika out of the ETH Zurich robotics lab.
