Global X Defense Tech ETF (SHLD) is a passively managed thematic fund issued by Global X, the ETF franchise of Mirae Asset Global Investments. It tracks the Global X Defense Tech Index, a modified market-cap-weighted benchmark of roughly the top 50 pure-play defense-technology companies worldwide, selected for exposure to increased government spending on defense and security. SHLD is the Digital Sovereignty lens, with Palantir as the anchor mission-software position among its mapped holdings. In the PXS map, SHLD expresses the defense-software and mission-technology layer of the Digital Sovereignty universe, distinct from ROKT's space-and-satcom tilt. Coverage is limited to direct, issuer-reported positions in already-mapped companies, not the complete portfolio, and this is a research map rather than a recommendation. SHLD is most useful for seeing where a defense-tech index concentrates across the mapped sovereign-technology companies. Its largest mapped positions are Palantir (13.2%), RTX (9.12%), Northrop Grumman (7.55%), and L3Harris (3.71%), anchoring the fund in mission software and the defense primes.
